French polishing builds a deep, warm finish one thin layer at a time. We polish new joinery on site, bring tired finishes back to life and repair the marks that everyday life leaves on wood, matching colour and sheen so the repair blends in.

We don’t publish prices because every job is different. These are the things your quote will depend on:
French polish (shellac) gives a deep, warm look and can be repaired and blended very well, but it's sensitive to water, heat and alcohol. Modern lacquers are tougher and better for surfaces in daily use. We'll recommend the right one for how the piece is used.
Often, yes. White marks are moisture trapped in the finish and can usually be drawn out or polished away. Dark or black marks mean water has reached the wood itself, which needs colour work and local refinishing.
Yes. Staircases, panelling, doors and fitted joinery can't be moved, so much of our polishing is done where the piece is.
Shellac and most lacquers do smell while they dry. We ventilate the area, and for occupied spaces we can suggest lower-odour finishes and plan the work around you.
